Running Meter, No Visible Water
"My bill went from normal to $507. The water company said the meter turns even when I am not using water. Nothing inside is wet."
Underground supply line leak about 18 feet from the meter box — a pinhole in an original 1950s copper line. Water was going down through the soil, not surfacing.
Pressure testing confirmed the supply line was losing volume. Acoustic equipment pinpointed the failure to within 2 feet. We excavated a small section and replaced the failed copper.
